Naruto is an action and comedy packed animation series which has Naruto Uzumaki, a ninja kid at the centre of its story.

It was originally created for TV Tokyo, the Japanese channel and was produced by Studio Pierrot. Studio Pierrot produced the series which was actually created by Masashi Kishimoto and immortalized in the Japanese comic called manga in 1997.

TV Tokyo showed Naruto animation series between October 2002 to February 2007 in Japanese and cartoon network broadcast the series through its division called toonami. With the series soon climbing the popularity charts cartoon network brought the series to its main channel to cater to its vast fan following.

The story unfolds in Konohagakure, one among the 5 great Shinobi nations in the Naruto world. Naruto Uzumaki lives here and gets into different adventures in a bid to get noticed. The boy has a great vision to reach the post of Hokage which will bring him up to the level of the country’s rulers. The different characters in the Naruto episodes blend in beautifully with the story’s theme and have become very popular too particularly Naruto’s friends Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno.

Jetix UK and Bionix were also leading telecasters of the popular Naruto episodes. Masashi Kishimoto’s comic series manga comprised 27 volumes which were later made into 220 episodes. Despite having around 220 episodes only 209 episodes were telecast with the final one shown in January 2009. Fans are hopeful that rumors of Viz resuming the telecast of the popular series will be confirmed soon.

It’s not game over yet for Naruto’s fans as the producers are offering DVDs which have the famous ninja kid’s episodes. They have taken great care to make sure that the DVD’s include the episodes with minimum cuts so that viewers are not disappointed. There are also DVDs containing episodes of the series for every season and some containing selected scenes of the series. The first 135 episodes have been brought into a single DVD called Naruto The Best Scene. The episodes can also be watched online on video sharing sites and myspace, youtube etc. The cartoon series has also been made into animation movies.
