What is a good mature anime series or anime movie?

What is ONE good mature anime series or anime movie can you think of? (I am NOT talking about Hentai, but more of a series that has a dark/serious tone, and may contain violence or adult themes.) Thanks. Please keep the list to a minimal and try listing the best one you can think of that falls into this category.

Some that I’ve seen includes: Death Note, Samurai X, Perfect Blue, Gantz, Claymore, and more that I can’t think of at the top of my head.
